Chaverim,
You are warmly invited to attend a learning event led by David G. on Sunday, March 29, 2009. It will be on Birkat Hachamah, the once every 28 years blessing of the sun which we'll be doing right before Pesach, for only the second time in Minyan history!
What is the significance of this blessing, why do we say it every 28 years, and why right before Pesach? The answer begins in the Talmud with a mixture of midrashic imagination and slightly imprecise astronomy, and takes us through some of the fascinating history of the Jewish calendar and its interactions with its Julian and Gregorian counterparts. Come on March 29th to find out more. And there will be singing, too!
In case you miss David's class, Ariella will be teaching on the same topic in 2037.
B'shalom,
Michael
